Wingate Studio is pleased to announce Astral Reflections, a new aquatint edition by Tunji Adeniyi-Jones produced in collaboration with Nicelle Beauchene and Morán Morán. Published in an edition of 30, Astral Reflections is a six plate aquatint etching with soft ground and spit bite on white Somerset Satin paper, and is the artist’s first ever print edition.
Astral Reflections synthesizes Tunji Adeniyi-Jones’ exploration of the deified body: elongated, elegant figures that twist and dance in voluptuous contortions. Over the past several years, the artist has developed this iconic language of figura- tion to think through West African mythology, ceremony, and ritual. In Astral Reflections, nine of these figures expres- sively move through a fiery field of oranges and reds. Adeniyi-Jones’ keen interest in the relationship of color, form, and pattern renders itself evident in this dynamic composition.
