Located at the heart of the Montparnasse district, the atelier Idem Paris was built in 1881 by the French printer Eugène Dufrenoy who ran the studio until the World War II. This place hosts the lithographic presses of Fernand Mourlot who worked with the major artists of the XXth century such as Matisse, Picasso, Braque and Giacometti. A new generation of contemporary artists such as Jean-Michel Alberola, Sophie Calle, JR, William Kentridge, David Lynch, Paul McCarthy and Raymond Pettibon still create here nowadays. This 1.400m2 space under a glass roof shelters more than an Atelier: Idem is a place where people meet and exchange stories. In collaboration with the printers, each artist who worked, created or produced here participate in the continuity of lithography and the preservation of this unique and special place.
