Kingsland Editions is a fine art screen print and publishing studio established by Sara Gates, the founder of Kingsland Printing. Working as a commercial high end screen print studio since 2006, we are now working with artists to create and publish original limited edition prints and multiples.
Each edition is a close collaboration with a contemporary artist who signs and numbers each piece. We employ a wide range of techniques, print by hand and believe in the highest standards of craftsmanship. Every edition is made in limited, small runs, so once the edition is sold out, it is gone and will not be reprinted.
We believe that art is for everyone, that it should be accessible and is a conversation. It is meant to be experienced, enjoyed and provides us the chance to think about things from a new perspective. Collaboration takes that to the next level by pushing us as printmakers to think outside the box, develop new techniques and grow our ability to communicate through the medium. It compels artists to break down what they do and look at image making in a new way.

Artwork
Elise Ferguson is an artist whose abstract, geometric paintings embrace the tactile nature of the materials she uses, and capture imperfections in the process. It was important for our collaboration on this set of prints that they achieved the tangibility and improvisation she is known for.
300lb watercolor paper was hand coated with plaster by Elise in her studio, then each one was hand printed with Graphite and Puff ink. The individually printed layers react to the surface below. This creates variations in each print, making every one unique.
“More, Blue” honors Ferguson’s almost sculptural approach to painting by building a surface with dimension and texture. The waterbased puff ink creates a buildup with natural irregularities that echo her paintings.
“More, Graphite” focuses on her relationship to the pencil line and uses the graphite ink not only for the preliminary grid, but also for the heavy curved lines that make up the main body of the piece. This edition takes the simple graphite line out of the background and into the foreground.
